Our Materials
Aluminium
Used for the Cookware range (pots and lids), aluminium is lightweight and conducts heat very well : it heats up quickly and evenly across the whole cooking surface, limiting hot spots. It’s easy to care for β wash with warm soapy water β and it’s best to avoid abrasive metal utensils, which can mark the satin or polished finish over time.
Stainless steel
KALIMA’s cutlery and serving utensils are made from martensitic stainless steel, a grade chosen for its ability to hold a sharp edge over time. Stainless steel resists corrosion well and is easy to maintain ; regular sharpening and drying immediately after washing extend the life of the edge.
Enamel
KALIMA’s enamelled tableware pairs a metal base with a non-porous, vitrified surface : it doesn’t retain odours or flavours from one dish to the next, and comes in the range’s two finishes (Navy Speckled, Cream Speckled). Like any enamelled piece, it remains sensitive to sudden thermal shock and to hard impacts, which can chip it.
Detailed care instructions for each item are listed on its product page ; some information, such as dishwasher compatibility for part of the range, is still being confirmed.
